As we are the end of year 2025, I have experienced that the need of Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) especially in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) has been exponentially increased. The major reasons which I observed are lifestyle factors – smoking and alcohol consumption, excessive caffeine, consumption of junk food, work pressure, high level of stress & abnormal sleep paFern, advanced maternal age. These factors badly affect the egg and sperm quality and lead to infer;lity. It is interes;ng that the couples are increasingly aware of fer;lity specialist when they start planning the baby but awareness alone is not enough. They should understand the reason behind infertility and should start the treatment as soon as possible.

I have observed the poor egg quality and poor sperm quality are the most common reasons for IVF treatment. In most of the cases, couples don’t accept the issues and the need of IVF treatment. So, they wanted to try naturally for few years. When they return back, the fer;lity becomes so low that the success rate of IVF also become low. At this stage, they are not ready to accept the low success rate of IVF and waste their ;me in mul;ple opinions. In this year, we did approximately 200 IVF cycles. Out of which, 90 cases were due to low sperm parameters, 75 cases were due to poor egg factors and rest were due to other factors. Our success rate of self-gametes IVF was 55% and in donor egg IVF treatment it was 85%min first aFempt. We are doing self and donor egg surrogacy aTer legal paper work with success rate up to 90%.

I have also seen the increasing trend of fertility preservation (social egg freezing) and fertility optimization before fertility declines. I believe that the fertility care should be practiced responsibly, compassionately, intelligently, ethically and honestly which not only improve the pregnancy rates, but this approach builds patient trust and ensures long-term satisfaction.
